Molto Bene made all to secure victory on her debut over fences in the 2m4½f handicap chase. Ridden by regular partner Lilly Pinchin, she quickened well after the final fence on her seasonal reappearance before winning by six lengths.

Trainer Charlie Longsdon said: “I was really pleased with that. She’s always jumped brilliantly and when you enjoy your jumping, you’ve got half a chance.

“I think she looked more improved over fences than hurdles, it just gave her a bit more time. The obvious thing is to try to find her some black type, which would be good for her family. Her brothers are quite good, Honesty Policy and Cuthbert Dibble.”

It was Pinchin's fourth winner from her last eight rides, and her third success on Molto Bene having ridden the six-year-old to both of her hurdle wins.

Twiston-Davies one-two

Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies filled the first two places in the 2m½f novice hurdle, with the market getting the order right.

The 10-11 favourite Spectacularsunrise, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, jumped well on his debut over hurdles and found plenty after the last to win by 12 lengths from stablemate Super Freddie.

Doctor's orders

Doctor Kildare gave Sam Thomas his second winner of the season from just his fourth runner when justifying favouritism in the 2m7f handicap hurdle. The winner was making his first start for the trainer since leaving Nicky Henderson, for whom he won a bumper but failed to score in four attempts over hurdles.
