Skewiff keeps straight and true to land mares' contest in tight finish

Skewiff ran straight as an arrow in the closing stages to nail favourite Hint Of Grey and Included in a thrilling finish to the the 2m mares’ novice hurdle.

The race had started in farcical fashion as none of the runners were prepared to jump off and make the running. Eventually Sam Twiston-Davies took the initiative on Included and it nearly paid off.

However, she was caught by Hint Of Grey, who was then run down by Adam Wedge on the Evan Williams-trained mare.
