'She doesn’t like being crowded' - One For Harvey is out on her own for in-form Birketts

Frustration turned to elation when One For Harvey gained her first victory in the 5f three-year-old handicap.
Placed in four of her eight previous starts, One For Harvey could never quite get the job done. This time things changed, as she was fired straight from her wide draw by jockey Fred Larson and won going away by a length and a quarter.
Shelley Birkett, who trains the winner for Trinity Racing Bloodstock, said: “She’s been really consistent, but she’s also been frustrating as she’s not been seeing out the end of her races. We thought the drop back in trip and keeping it simple would be a good plan, and it looked like she outstayed them in the end.
“The other thing is she doesn’t like being crowded, so the draw on the outside was helpful. Hopefully now we’ve found the key we can see some progression from her.”
Birkett, who is in her first full season training in partnership with her mother Julia, added: “It’s going really well. That was our sixth winner, and we’ve got only 20 horses in. They’re all capable of winning, so we just have to keep pushing forward with them.”
Padishakh prevails
Padishakh is likely to return to major handicaps after making a winning debut for trainer Ed Bethell in the 1m½f handicap.
The success was the five-year-old’s first in Britain having first moved to Roger Varian and then to David O’Meara following two victories in France for former owner Nurlan Bizakov.
Bethell said: “He's got great back form which suggested he was very well in here. He's been set some fairly tough asks but is one for major handicaps as the faster they go the better it suits him.”
