David Menuisier's two-year-olds continue to impress as Goodwood Galaxy belief his odds in the opening 7f maiden.

David Probert was aboard the 18-1 shot, who despite bumping the start kept on well to comfortably score by a length and three-quarters from odds-on favourite Victorious One.

Menuisier said: "He did everything right. We don't train to win first time out, so we never really go there with a massive expectation. But his work was good and his two working companions have won well in the past few days.

"He can be a bit opiniated at times, so the plan was to keep it simple. By keeping him happy he kept everyone else happy. He has his quirks and I was told his stallion [Kodi Bear] was the same. He wants to do things his way at times and instead of stopping him from doing them, you have to channel them into positive attitudes."

The trainer added: "It's been challenging to wait for some rain for the ground. That's why our focus has been on our two-year-olds and so far they've all handled the quick ground, which has been a relief. We've had two winners, one third, one fourth and one fifth. I'm very happy."

Nifty win

Hector Crouch came out the right side of a photo-finish aboard Nifty to get the verdict ahead of Spacewoman in the feature 6f novice for trainer Richard Hughes.

Crouch also landed the 1m4f handicap with Cape Breton to enjoy a double on the card.
