Giuseppe Cassioli times his run to a fine art after hitting 160 on exchanges

Giuseppe Cassioli flew home in the final 100 yards under a perfectly timed ride from Kieran Shoemark to pinch victory from Ahdab in the opening mile handicap, with the runner-up having traded at 1.02 in running when seemingly cruising.

It appeared Jim Crowley, in the Hamdan Al Maktoum colours, had the race wrapped up for trainer Ed Dunlop as he pushed Ahdab two lengths clear in the home straight, but he was mugged on the line by the Charlie Hills-trained Giuseppi Cassiole, who by comparison traded at 160 in-running on the Betfair Exchange.

"It did look like Ahdab had it, didn't it?" said Hills. "But he absolutely flew home and I'm delighted with how he travelled.
