Pat Flynn, who had not had a jumps winner since September, helped himself to a 206-1 double thanks to Duke Otto and Bite That.

The trainer never got to see how his former runner Windbeneathmywings fared at Cheltenham last Wednesday as David Pipe ruled him out of the Champion Bumper with a late setback.

Flynn landed the 2m handicap hurdle when the Gavin Noonan-ridden 22-1 outsider Duke Otto bounced back to form to end a long losing run stretching back to November 2023.

Flynn was back in the winner's enclosure 70 minutes later as Bite That, a half-brother to Gold Cup runner-up Might Bite, ran out an impressive scorer of the 2m3½f handicap chase at odds of 8-1 under Alex Harvey.

First and last for Elliott

Gordon Elliott, who had a four-timer at Down Royal, bookended the card as Speculatrix landed the opening mares' maiden hurdle and Theflyingking won the closing bumper.

Speculatrix looked all set to open his account at Navan last time but took a crashing fall at the last. She gained compensation under Jordan Gainford at odds of 11-4.

Elliott holds Theflyingking in very high regard and the grey gelding made it third time lucky after a few near-misses in the concluding bumper under Harry Swan. It did not look likely for a long way, but the 6-4 favourite found plenty for pressure to score by half a length from Thedeviluno.
