Thursday's racing: a tale of two penalties, two contrasting jumpers and another potential cracker for Candlish

Three things you shouldn't miss from Thursday's six meetings . . .
Listed Chepstow winner quickly back in action
Cliche though it is, jumping really is the name of the game when racing over fences. Take the battle between two dual winners with little between them on ratings in the mares' chase at Clonmel (4.22).
Would you rather be on Nara, who "made a few novicey mistakes" in the words of her jockey when gaining her latest success in Grade 2 company and unseated her rider at the first fence at Limerick just last Sunday?
Or Speculatrix, who has improved for a switch to chasing this term, jumped well each time and pounced on the run-in to beat a higher-rated rival in a Listed race at Chepstow 11 days ago?
Penalised runners clash at Ludlow
The 3m handicap hurdle at Ludlow (3.37) could be a tale of two penalties. Prince De Juilley carries 7lb extra for winning with blinkers switched to a visor for the first time at Stratford last Saturday but was put up only 6lb by the handicapper — and will the new headgear will be so effective again?
Whereas Tankardstown Diva has clearly been rejuvenated since joining Tom Ellis, scored comfortably at Market Rasen when tried over this sort of trip by her new trainer and is 2lb better off under a penalty than she will be in future handicaps.
Can Command prove to be another shrewd Candlish purchase?
Sending out 40 winners, when she had never previously had more than 14, shows it has been a stellar season on the Flat for trainer Jennie Candlish. And there is more to come with the likes of Mission Command, a 20,000gns summer recruit who has gone close on all three runs for his new yard.
He was beaten little more than a length in a competitive sprint at Redcar on Two Year Old Trophy day, yet has been dropped another 1lb and runs off a career-low mark in the 6f handicap at Southwell (7.30).
