Stayer seeks course hat-trick at Catterick while Moore chaser aims for four on the bounce at Fontwell

Punting pointers for some of Tuesday's meetings

Catterick: Zephlyn in course hat-trick bid

Zephlyn has been in superb form in 2025 and bids to complete a hat-trick over course and distance in the 2m handicap (7.40). The Ewan Whillans-trained stayer has won three races, finished second twice and third once from seven starts this year.

The six-year-old is rated 3lb higher than when he beat Cosmic Soul by a nose here last month, which means he is 1lb worse off with that reopposing rival. Cosmic Soul's trainer Patrick Neville is also represented by Morandi Second, who was a six-and-a-half-length winner at this venue on his last Flat start.

Apprentice Archie Young's 5lb claim accounts for some of the 8lb higher mark his mount has to race off since that victory last October.

Fontwell: Moore chaser goes for four

Jack Sparrow Grey could even outdo Zephlyn as he tries for a fourth course-and-distance win in a row in the 2m3½f handicap chase (6.50). The Gary and Josh Moore-trained six-year-old's unbeaten record began when he switched to handicap company over fences and he has progressed 25lb in the weights since his first victory here in April.

Niall Houlihan and Caoilin Quinn have steered Jack Sparrow Grey to success but with an 11lb rise incurred for his latest win last month, the Moores have opted to use 5lb claimer Freddie Mitchell. Summer In Milan, who chased home Jack Sparrow Grey on that occasion, has ten lengths to find with the winner but is meeting that rival on 6lb better terms this time.

The blue and red colours of Ruth Arnold have been a regular sight in the winner's enclosure in recent months, as Jack Sparrow Grey's stablemate Iskar D'Airy has struck three times since March.

Fontwell stat: powerful combination

Harry Cobden has ridden four winners from nine rides for Paul Nicholls this season and rides Onethreefivenotout for his boss in the 7.50.

Salisbury: Safari Dream on a roll again

Safari Dream scored a hat-trick at the start of his career in 2022 and is on track to claim another in the 6f handicap (3.00).

The five-year-old scored over course and distance last month and followed up with a comfortable win over the same distance on the all-weather at Chelmsford.

Trainer Rod Millman operates at a 33 per cent strike-rate (two from six) at the track this year and has booked jockey Lewis Edmunds, who has accompanied Safari Dream on three of his starts.

Sligo: gamble pair back on home soil

Noel Kelly and amateur rider Oran McGill caught the attention of the stewards in Britain after landing gambles at Hexham and Perth at the weekend and the pair combine with Our Zebo in the 3m2f handicap hurdle (7.28).

Nakassama justified 11-8 favouritism for Kelly in Hexham's opener on Saturday before Garrick Painter was successfully backed in from 20-1 to 15-8 market leader at Perth less than 24 hours later for the same All Play & No Work Syndicate.

Neither of those winners had placed in 14 starts over hurdles before a sudden upturn in form, whereas Our Zebo is going for a hat-trick here. The six-year-old will have to defy top weight and a 10lb rise to follow up wins at Tramore and Downpatrick, but the form of his last success is working out well as Sights Unseen, who he beat by six and a half lengths, went one better on her next start.

Wolverhampton: Kelly fancied to go close

Trainer Derek Shaw is a man to follow in classified contests at Wolverhampton and he relies upon Kipp Kelly in the 5f Class 6 event (4.15).

Kipp Kelly is winless in 18 starts with just two placed efforts, but he did finish second on his most recent outing at the track in April in a course-and-distance handicap. It earned him a Racing Post Rating of 55, his highest since April last year, and a similar effort from stall four could see him go close, particularly with Alex Jary's 5lb claim.

There are four course-and-distance winners in opposition, though – Bankrupt, Henery Hawk, Second Collection and Sixcor.

Shaw said: "He ticks all the right boxes – track, trip and draw. Hopefully the young lad will get on with him and I don't see a problem. If he runs the same kind of race as when he was second there, he shouldn't be far away at all."
