'This track and trip will be ideal for him' - analysis and key quotes for Wincanton handicap hurdle

This is a low-grade handicap hurdle which will not take a great deal of winning.

Mach Ten, a 71-rated maiden on the Flat, is fitted with a visor for the first time and should go close if building on a last-time-out third to Whatmakes Honey B at Taunton.

He lost his place at an important stage of that race before rallying from the second-last, and perhaps the headgear will aid his concentration. Callum Pritchard’s 5lb claim is a significant plus.

Breccia, a dual winner on the all-weather, will be having just her fifth start over hurdles. She was by no means disgraced when fourth behind Daany at Newton Abbot last August and she competes off a 2lb lower mark this time.

Flash In The Pan and Crest Of Honour tackle a handicap for the first time, and might step up on the form shown in their qualifying runs.

Crest Of Honour was 2-1 favourite for a Hereford bumper last October but could finish only fourth of five, beaten 23 lengths by the winner Aotano.

What they say

Nigel Hawke, trainer of Albert Park
He had a nasty injury at Hexham last summer and had some time off. He was fit for the race at Taunton the other day under Shannon [Holmes], but I think he'll improve a lot mentally for the run. All being well, this track and trip will be ideal for him, so we're expecting a nice run.

Anthony Charlton, trainer of Mach Ten
I was pleased with him last time, as we'd been running him on soft ground and he seemed to appreciate the better ground. Stepping up a furlong won't be any problem and we'll put a visor on him. I think it may get him travelling better as he was first off the bridle last time.

Jane Williams, trainer of Crest Of Honour
He's coming back from a break and he's up in trip, which I think will suit him. This quicker ground should hopefully see him put in a good performance, and we've added cheekpieces, not because he's ungenuine, but just to help him concentrate on his jumping as he's lacked a bit of fluency.
