Forgive the shameless plug but there really is no better way to prepare for a race meeting than scouring our excellent Signposts section.

An invaluable punting resource, I also religiously use it when reporting on a meeting, like at Haydock last Saturday when I spotted something that made me smile.

In the hot jockeys table, Danny McMenamin led the way with a 31 per cent strike-rate (8-26) over the previous two weeks, closely followed by Brian Hughes (29 per cent, 10-35).
