Step up in trip on the cards for Real World as Bin Suroor seeks to avoid Baaeed

Saaed bin Suroor may consider a quick turnaround and a step up to a mile and a quarter in an effort to get Real World a first Group 1 success, as well as dodging his nemesis Baaeed.

In a parallel universe Real World might have been one of the headline horses on day one of Royal Ascot but after vainly chasing Baaeed in much the same way as he had in the Lockinge, both Danny Tudhope and Bin Suroor were left to reflect on another fine run – maybe a career best – for little reward.

"We just had to run into Baaeed again," said Tudhope, who made no mistake on the Bin Suroor-trained Dubai Future and landed the last with Get Shirty. "He's probably the best miler I've ridden and then we have to bump into him. He's done nothing wrong and he's a good horse. I'm pretty sure he'll get his Group 1 one day."

The gap on Tuesday between the two was a length and three-quarters – an improvement on the three-and-a-quarter length margin at Newbury – though as Real World's trainer reflected, "still not close enough."

'Baaeed is different class'

There was once again daylight back to the third and Chindit was further behind Real World than in the Lockinge, while the five-year-old son of Dark Angel should also be marked up for attempting to make a race of it with the winner and then sticking so well to his task when victory was out of reach.

Bin Suroor said: "He ran well, but Baaeed is different class. It was the same result as in Newbury in the Lockinge. I'm happy with him and he's been beaten by a better horse."

As the comparisons between Baaeed and Frankel begin to multiply, Bin Suroor is keen to get Real World out from under his shadow in a way that it took Excelebration almost two seasons to do in the era of Juddmonte's titan.

"He could go a mile and a quarter," said Bin Suroor. "I'm thinking about the Eclipse. It's two weeks and five days and I could see him running. I will see how he comes back [from this race], with then maybe the Juddmonte after that."
