Ralph Beckett has had plans for his exciting 1,000 Guineas runner-up Prosperous Voyage thrown into chaos after major delays at the Port of Dover ended what looked to be a serious winning chance in Sunday's Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp.

Beaten a neck by Cachet at Newmarket, Prosperous Voyage has had the mile-and-a-quarter Group 1 on her agenda for some time but despite leaving Beckett's Hampshire base in good time early on Saturday, she was left stranded at Dover.

It is unclear whether the delays were caused by volume of traffic or slow processing of the paperwork required to move any goods and livestock between Britain and France in the wake of Brexit.

Beckett told the Racing Post: "She is not going to get there. It would have been an 18-hour trip and that wasn't on."

Prosperous Voyage has a string of placed efforts to her name in Group company, having been third in the Prestige Stakes last August before twice chasing home Inspiral, first in the May Hill Stakes and then the Fillies' Mile.

Sent off a 33-1 chance on her seasonal reappearance, she made remorseless ground on Cachet and failed by just a neck to land the Classic.

The daughter of Zoffany was the 2-1 favourite for the Saint-Alary ahead of the Joseph O'Brien-trained Above The Curve and Godolphin's Wild Beauty, and was set to be the ride of Frankie Dettori.

Prosperous Voyage holds an entry in the Coronation Stakes back at a mile, for which she is a 7-1 chance in what would be a rematch with Cachet as well as a potential meeting with Irish Guineas winner Homeless Songs and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Mangoustine. She is also entered in the Ribblesdale a day earlier over a mile and a half.
