Epsom kicked the Flat season into top gear with a pair of scintillating Classics and we can now look forward to a sensational summer of racing, including five days of Royal Ascot pageantry.

Kicking off on Tuesday, June 14 and concluding on Saturday, June 18, we can expect fireworks (of a racing kind) on Ascot's hallowed turf.

What makes Royal Ascot so special?

The premier jumps festivals, Aintree and Cheltenham, have three and four-day meetings respectively, but Royal Ascot spoils us with five days of unrivalled Group 1 action.

Over the course of the week there will be a jaw-dropping £8,652,000 in prize-money on offer, an 18 per cent increase from the 2019 event.

There will be eight Group 1 races to keep us occupied, with 11 more at Group 2 or 3 level – a treat that is unmatched on the Flat racing calendar.

Before racing on each day is a traditional procession where the Queen and members of the royal family arrive at the course, though it is yet to be determined who will be in attendance this year.

What is the Royal Ascot running order and where can I watch?

There were six races added to the Royal Ascot programme in 2020 owing to the disruption of the coronavirus pandemic and after the success of it in 2021, we will once again be treated to 35 races in 2022.

The vast majority of the racing can be seen on ITV's main channel, which has exclusive free to air rights until 2023. Sky Sports Racing will also broadcast all 35 races.

Furthermore, you can watch all live races from Ascot through the Racing Post website and Racing Post app. All you need to do is log in to your bookmaker account and find the eligible races.

ITV and ITV4 will broadcast all 35 races across the week

Can I still buy Royal Ascot tickets?

Thousands of racegoers will flood to Royal Ascot with many missing out due the reduced amount of 12,000 tickets available for last year's meeting affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Tickets for all of the enclosures on the final day on Saturday are sold out but are still available for all enclosures on the other days – the exception being the Queen Anne enclosure on Thursday – and can be purchased here.
