Sandown, rather than Aintree, could be the next port of call for Shishkin after his flop in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

The dual-festival winner went off the 5-6 favourite for the day-two highlight but disappointed on the testing ground, being pulled up by Nico de Boinville after the eighth fence without ever getting into contention.

Nicky Henderson, who trains the eight-year-old for Joe and Marie Donnelly, initially suggested a step up in trip at Aintree's Grand National meeting for Shishkin but he is now warming to a crack at the bet365 Celebration Chase at Sandown on April 23.

He said on Friday: "Shishkin is absolutely fine this morning. I was more thinking about the Celebration Chase at Sandown and still two miles. I would have thought the ground was the problem in the Champion Chase, but Sandown should suit on better ground."

Henderson was on a high on Tuesday when Constitution Hill did a passable impression of British racing's next superstar in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, but no plans are in place for him.

The trainer added: "I've had no further thoughts on where he'll run next, but I don't see why he shouldn't run again – it's just a question in what. He's absolutely fine and we'll see – there's not a bother on him."
