Connections of Derby second Mojo Star indicated on Tuesday he is all but certain to head to Doncaster next month for the Cazoo St Leger despite entering him for a race at Windsor on Saturday.

The highly thought of three-year-old, who runs in the increasingly familiar colours of football agent Kia Joorabchian's Amo Racing, ran a blinder when filling the runner-up slot behind Adayar as a 50-1 shot in the Derby.

He was still a maiden at that stage and then came fifth in the Irish Derby before getting off the mark in minor company at Newbury recently.

St Leger entries

Trained by Richard Hannon, the Sea The Stars colt is 12-1 with Betfair Sportsbook and Paddy Power for the St Leger, but was on Monday entered for Windsor's Listed Sytner BMW Sunningdale & Maidenhead August Stakes this weekend.

However, Amo's racing manager Emily Scott said on Tuesday: "I've spoken to the trainer and the boss and we don't intend to run on Saturday.

"We just made the entry to have a look but the plan is to go straight to the St Leger at this stage, and he's in brilliant form by all accounts."

Mojo Star was one of 18 horses on Tuesday left in the £700,000 St Leger, which takes place on September 11, although, as expected, Adayar was not among them.

The betting for the world's oldest Classic is headed by his Charlie Appleby-trained stablemate Hurricane Lane, in front of Mojo Star when winning the Irish Derby but only third at Epsom.

Nonetheless, he appears to have a tight grip on the St Leger and Coral's David Stevens said: "Hurricane Lane had already shortened to 4-5 favourite for the Cazoo St Leger this week, and with his Derby-winning stablemate Adayar taken out of the Doncaster entries, current odds of 8-11 suggest the Godolphin colt has the season's final Classic at his mercy."
