French Classic winner Vadeni will face five rivals when he seeks to land his first British success in the Coral-Eclipse (3.35) on Saturday.

The runaway Prix du Jockey Club winner will be the sole international runner in the Sandown Group 1 and he will bid to follow up his five-length romp at Chantilly in June.

The colt will again be partnered by Christophe Soumillon as they target a first French victory in the Coral-Eclipse for more than 60 years.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained runner is 13-8 favourite with Coral for Saturday's contest, having been supplemented on Monday for £50,000 by the Aga Khan.

Vadeni and Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Native Trail, the two three-year-olds in the field, will be in receipt of 10lb from their older rivals.

The Coral-Eclipse also heralds the return of international Group 1 star Mishriff, who will make his first start this season under regular rider David Egan.

The pair were last seen in February finishing at the rear of the field in the Saudi Cup, but joint-trainer John Gosden is optimistic the five-year-old has recovered from conditions at Riyadh.

"They went very hard in the Saudi Cup and he got a lot of dirt down his throat," Gosden said. "The jockeys said that the consistency of the track had changed from the year before, when he won the race, and it was riding pretty much like an American track, with much greater kickback.

"He had a tough time there and it wasn't the most positive of experiences for him. He needed time to get over it, but he seems in good form now."

The five-year-old – who finished third in the contest last year – carries the highest official rating of Saturday's runners with a mark of 125 following a wide-margin success in the Juddmonte International over Alenquer, who reopposes for trainer William Haggas.

The Tattersalls Gold Cup winner will be Haggas's sole representative after the trainer chose not to declare Dubai Honour on Thursday.

The field also includes Bay Bridge, who was held off by State Of Rest in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and seeks a winning return to Sandown for Sir Michael Stoute.

The four-year-old leads the British-trained hopefuls in the market at 7-2 after landing a decisive course-and-distance success in May's Brigadier Gerard Stakes.

He will be ridden by Ryan Moore, who was freed from obligations as the leading jockey for Aidan O'Brien after the Ballydoyle trainer chose not to declare a runner in the Eclipse.

The six-time race-winning trainer confirmed on Wednesday that his Coral-Eclipse entries would be aimed at other targets, with Stone Age aiming for the Belmont Derby, while High Definition and Aikhal are likely to run in France.

Queen Anne Stakes runner-up Real World was also not included in the final field after Saeed bin Suroor ruled the Godolphin five-year-old out on Wednesday due to a bad scope.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained Lord North completes the line-up, with the former Frankie Dettori mount reunited with James Doyle, who rode the six-year-old to success in the 2020 Prince of Wales's Stakes.

1 Vadeni
2 Mishriff
3 Native Trail

The three-year-olds in this year's Eclipse look up to scratch at the very least, with Vadeni taken to add to his scintillating Prix du Jockey Club success. The son of Churchill is from a family with a fine record over this trip, including two Prix Saint Alary winners, and he has to rate one of the most exciting colts over this distance this term. Mishriff can bounce back from a below-par effort last time out, while it is also hard to see Native Trail out of the placings, with his racing style giving hope to him suiting the trip.
