Big move paying off for Trevor Whelan as he finally puts injury woes behind him

Trevor Whelan has been faced with some big calls in his riding career but his decision to return to Britain after a spell in Ireland last year is certainly paying dividends with the jockey already having set a personal best on the Flat in 2021.
Based at Roger Charlton's famed Beckhampton yard, Whelan moved on to 26 winners for the year when dead-heating on the Charlton-trained Rumi at Kempton on Friday night and he is hoping his recent good form is here to stay.
"I took a chance and never thought it would go as well when I came back," said Whelan before riding at Catterick on Saturday. "I spoke to Mr Charlton and he told me to come back and ride out a couple of days a week and it's just snowballed.
