Rebel Ivy
Third, Thurles, Wednesday
Eurotiep was an impressive winner of this maiden hurdle but this mare put in a promising performance to finish third on her first racecourse start. Settled towards the rear of midfield, she made eyecatching progress from four out to the line under hand riding, especially considering her jumping lacked fluency.
She was just over 20 lengths adrift of the winner at the line so expect a similar run next time before she takes on handicaps, where she will be much more comfortable. Rebel Ivy has a decent pedigree and looks talented enough to pick up a couple of races in that sphere. [Maddy Playle]

This unexposed chaser's jumping fell to bits in the Sky Bet Chase, but the fact he was still travelling okay and close enough to the protagonists when he unseated Richard Johnson at the 14th suggests there is a decent staying handicap chase to be won with him.

He was positioned up the inside rail throughout, which probably didn't help his confidence when it came to the fences as his technique was invariably scrappy. He lost a lot of ground in the process and had to be pushed along away from plenty of the obstacles. He remains on a very favourable handicap mark so keep your eye on his future entries. Aarons Day has to be considered one of the unluckiest losers in living memory following Sunday’s farcical scenes in Ireland. The Oliver McKiernan-trained seven-year-old was all but wiped out when Shakeytry unseated behind the tapes and he lost in the region of 20 lengths as the starter bizarrely allowed the race to commence.
'That is shambolic' – Ruby Walsh slams Naas starter after chaotic scenes
Amazingly, the gelding, who was on a hat-trick after wins at Fairyhouse and Naas early last year, made relentless progress from four out and emerged with every chance jumping the last. He understandably got a bit tired on the run-in, but it was a herculean effort from him and one that suggests he’s still well ahead of his mark. [Marcus Buckland]

Tristan Davidson’s mare produced a strong finishing effort to chase home the in-form Qaaraat over an inadequate 5f at Southwell and will make plenty of appeal when returned to her preferred distance of 6f in the coming weeks.
The five-year-old is back on her last winning handicap mark of 62 and should soon cash in, be it on the Fibresand or on Tapeta at Newcastle, judged on the way she rattled home from the rear of the field to be beaten just half a length on Thursday. [Marcus Buckland]
