Leading Arc contenders set to meet on Sunday - but Owen Burrows opts for easier option with one-time Derby hope

Sunday's Qatar-backed Arc Trials card is set to feature a host of candidates for Europe's richest race on October 5, with leading ante-post chances Whirl, Aventure and Leffard among those who remain in contention for the three traditional prep races after Wednesday's forfeit stage.
However, the unbeaten Gethin will not be joining them after Owen Burrows opted to wait until next Friday's Listed Prix Turenne at Saint-Cloud. The Ghaiyyath three-year-old looked a potential Derby candidate after a three-and-a-half-length victory in a Newbury novice in the spring, but a setback kept him out of the Classic equation, and he's now on the comeback trail.
Gethin is among 11 remaining entries for the Prix Niel on Sunday, but Burrows said: "I left him in the Niel just so I could have a look. I spoke to the owners this afternoon, but I've entered him in the Prix Turenne at Saint-Cloud and that's our favoured option. He won't go on Sunday."
