'I always back my selections - the points system has revolutionised my betting'
Tom Collins, Maddy Playle and Robbie Wilders answer your questions

Welcome to the Punting Club! Unlike most clubs there's no joining fee or annual charge, and the only criterion for being part of the gang is simple: an appreciation for weekend punting and an enthusiasm for chewing over the big talking points.
Every Friday we – that's Punt regulars Tom Collins, Maddy Playle and Robbie Wilders (Punting Club membership numbers #1, #2 and #3) – will answer your questions on the weekend's racing action, share our best bets . . . and ruthlessly highlight the flaws in each other's arguments.
You can submit your questions via this link each week, but read on to see what we have to say this week . . .

Is High Definition a cert in the Irish Derby (3.45 Curragh)? Given that he missed the Epsom and French equivalents. Darragh Cullen
Maddy No. I don't like High Definition at all and never have done. He clearly has a lot of ability but I think he is just very slow. I thought the way people reacted to his juvenile wins was way over the top and to me he just makes winning races look difficult and hard work. Of course he can definitely go and win on Saturday, but he certainly won't be carrying my cash at 2-1 and I wouldn't be surprised if the St Leger is his ultimate target.
Tom I don't know about cert, Darragh, but I think he will win. Aidan O'Brien has won the race on 14 occasions and did the right thing by targeting High Definition here after his Dante third. Epsom wouldn't have suited him in the Derby as he's a big galloper who wouldn't have handled the camber all that well, but he's two from two at the Curragh and I can't oppose him.
Robbie Definitely not. A best-priced 7-4 is far too short in my opinion and Wordsworth is my idea of the value in the race at a general 16-1. Kew Gardens' brother treads a similar path to Santiago, who defied a quick turnaround to win the Irish Derby after running in the Queen's Vase last season. I could see the money coming for him.
I fancy Mojo Star in the Irish Derby (3.45 Curragh) on Saturday – he looks like a good each-way bet after his second in the Derby. He has the best Racing Post figure at the distance and is a big improver. Do you agree about his chances? Michael Eason
Maddy I don't think he's a slow horse by any means and he was intimidated a little when he went looking for a tight gap at Epsom, so you could argue he could have got even closer to Adayar. However, I'd rather go for one at a bigger price and my two against the field are Lone Eagle at 8-1 and Earlswood at 16-1. The former will be suited by the track and forecast rain, and he was only four and a half lengths behind Adayar at Sandown, form which was boosted by Alenquer at Royal Ascot. Frankie Dettori rides everywhere brilliantly, including the Curragh, and he did me a favour a few years ago when Wicklow Brave won the Irish St Leger, so I'm hoping he can do so again. Earlswood is also pretty much a confirmed stayer and also had his form boosted when El Drama won at Royal Ascot – he's always struck me as a likeable middle-distance colt in the making.
Tom If backing 5-1 shots each-way is your sort of thing, I wouldn't put you off. I'd rather back win only in races that lack enticing each-way terms and I think High Definition will prove hard to beat. Talking about Mojo Star, I hope he gives Rossa Ryan a great ride. I'm a big fan of the young jockey and he's only been back riding for three days after a collarbone injury, so he deserves a bit of luck.
Robbie Agreed. Mojo Star would be my other fancy in the race along with Wordsworth. His Derby second exceeds anything High Definition has achieved so far and the pair should be closer together in the market. I think he'll probably be in the first three.

Robbie and Maddy were in flying form at Royal Ascot, tipping up 8-1 Queen Mary winner Quick Suzy at big prices ante-post. Robbie was also sweet on King Edward VII Stakes winner Alenquer. Top shouts!
Tea or coffee? Unkel
Maddy It's got to be tea. Speaking of which, one thing I've equally missed and not missed in recent months is the gargantuan tea rounds in the Racing Post office. I think my record is a 14-mugger, two trips. TC has disgraced himself on that front as he tended to work a lot remotely, meaning myself and Rob were burdened with the load. Milk (soya or oat if available, yes I'm that annoying person) and one sugar for me, please!
Tom I'm going to put myself on fraud watch by saying this, but I don't like tea or coffee. Hot drinks just aren't my thing. Hand me some squash or a beer – depending on the occasion, of course – and I'm good to go.
Robbie Alright Unkel, I haven't heard from you since my days working in William Hill in Hackney, keeping well? Caffeine-free tea with a plant-based milk option and no sugar please. Thanks.

Who is your fancy for the Northumberland Plate (3.30 Newcastle) on Saturday? John Watson
Maddy It's a tough race to weigh up and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Trueshan won off top weight. Dubious Affair was one of the unluckiest losers at Royal Ascot and her claims are obvious too, while Hochfeld, Rajinsky, Just Hubert, Rochester House and Themaxwecan are all regulars in this sort of race and could pop up at any time. It's not a race I have a confident view on, so I'll leave it to the lads.
Tom I was extremely keen to back Longsider, but he was balloted out. Don't forget his name as he's a real Ebor contender. My records only go back to 1985, but no horse has won in that timeframe carrying more than 9st 10lb so Trueshan will have to defy trends if he's to be successful. I'd rather back Island Brave at a huge price for trainer Heather Main. The seven-year-old is a two-time winner at the track, including once over this course-and-distance, has the assistance of brilliant 3lb claimer Ray Dawson and is back down to his last winning mark. At around 25-1, you'll get a run for your money.
What's the best form line of the season so far? Neale Fender
Maddy *Prepares for Tom to wax lyrical about the London Gold Cup* The 6f handicap at Newmarket on April 15 hasn't worked out too badly providing three Royal Ascot winners! Creative Force beat Significantly and Rohaan, with two other subsequent winners in there in Jumby and Bravado. Cairn Island could give the form another boost at Chester (3.20) on Saturday, too.

Tom Three-year-old handicaps are my thing so obviously the London Gold Cup, which was won by a future Group 1 contender in Bay Bridge, is high on my list. I'm sure the King George V Stakes at Ascot will work out well, while don't sleep on this form from a 1m2f novice event at Windsor earlier in the season.
Alright lads. Big fan of The Punt, proper love it. Just wanted to ask firstly if you back every horse you tip (know you do quite a lot) and if you use a staking plan? And if so, what sort of units? Glad to be part of the Punting Club gang, bring on the five-day Cheltenham! Ricky Rayment
Maddy Do I consider myself a lad, in this case, Ricky?! I have tried to refine my punting somewhat in the last few years and I do use a staking plan, although my stakes can be pretty modest unless I really fancy something. Obviously it's very important to stake what you can afford to lose and I'm not as much of a big hitter as someone like Rob, but that's not to say I derive any less pleasure in backing winners and finding overpriced horses.
Tom I tend to back the majority of my selections, especially in the US, but given I tip numerous horses every day it wouldn't be sustainable to back them all. My staking plan ranges from 1pt to 3pts win – rarely do I bet each-way. Glad that you're part of the Punting Club now mate!
Robbie I always back my selections. The points system has revolutionised my betting and I'd never bet any other way now. For me it's win or each-way dependent on whether the fractions are in my favour, with the odd 2pts each-way if I fancy something strongly at the terms available. Even if a horse I liked was 66-1 rather than 4-1 I'd never lower my stakes, unless it was impossible for me to get on at that price across multiple firms.
As a north-east native, the Plate is the biggest day in the calendar for Gosforth Park. Have any of you got a strong bet on the card we can all get stuck right into? Daniel Woodhouse
Tom Hope you have a great day if you pop along, Daniel. I've never been to Newcastle but will make the trip north sometime in the future. It's a tricky-looking card with a number of highly competitive handicaps, so not sure about 'a strong bet', but I like Tabdeed in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes (2.20) for trainer Owen Burrows. He hasn't been seen for 294 days but has a serious engine and more than enough class to win at this level. Providing he settles early – he can be keen in his races – then he's a huge player under David Probert.
Robbie Zeeband has the makings of a stayer going places and I've had a fair each-way bet on him in the Northumberland Vase (2.55). He continued his rapid improvement with a lovely third at Newmarket on his return, with the winner and fourth since reaching the frame in Royal Ascot handicaps. He is only 1lb higher and looks fairly treated.

For TC: prices on Maddy having feelings for Rob? Daniel Baines
Tom Wasn't expecting this kind of question – I feel like I'm on Celebs Go Dating (albeit not with celebs). Rob's a bit of a stallion, people have likened him to Wayne Lineker in the past, so I'd go a touch of odds-on, maybe 4-5.
Maddy I think this question should be the other way around! Robbie actually asked me out via Instagram before we met. No doubt he is now grateful that particular punt never came off . . .
