'She'll take a fair bit of beating' - 12 horses to follow from last week

Welcome to Winners In Waiting, a new weekly round-up of all the horses our expert race-readers have noted as being runners to follow.
Our experienced team watch – and write a descriptive in-running comment – for every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland.
There are three different categories, each relating to a specific in-running comment our race-readers use to denote those who appear most interesting with the future in mind.
Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.
The horses will remain on our list until their next start, as well as being flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday. It is hoped the list will prove a strong source of winners in the months ahead.
Non-members can sign up here to get the tracker, race replays and in-depth race analysis, as well as exclusive content from our team of tipsters and writers.
Eyecatchers
After Eight
Third, Salisbury, May 12
Making his turf/handicap debut, would surely have gone close had he not repeatedly found himself short of room in the final quarter-mile. A winner over 1m2f on the Polytrack at Lingfield in March, he looked on a potentially lenient mark beforehand and can recoup these losses.

Lightening Company
Fifth, York, May 12
Whose soft-ground Redcar win over Hortzadar worked out well, came home strongly after having to wait for a run. He's by no means fully exposed and has more improvement in him.

Up in trip and with the benefit of experience, improved markedly second time out, well on top of the remainder having impressed with how smoothly he worked his way into the race. The type to go on progressing, he should have little trouble picking up a similar event near to hand.

Tammani
Fourth, York, May 13
Had been rather underwhelming for this yard previously but he's well treated on old form and very much one to have on side after this luckless display. He constantly met trouble as he attempted to make his challenge, then finished strongly when belatedly in the clear.

Melayu Kingdom
Fifth, York, May 13
Rattled home late as others tired but, although he's been a bit disappointing, he isn't fully exposed and caught the eye back on a sound surface after getting behind. The return to 6f may suit better and he's one to keep an eye on.

Did well in the circumstances
Life’s A Beach
Fifth, Bath, May 11
Up in distance on his return having been off since August, he was held up last while the winner and third disputed the lead. He did settle better than a number of his rivals, though, and as a result he finished his race off well, negotiating traffic as he did so. He's well worth another chance.

Musical Mystery
Fifth, Salisbury, May 12
Gave his race away at the start on handicap debut and wasn't given a hard time as a result. He made some good progress late in the race and will become interesting as he gathers more experience.
Watch Musical Mystery make good late progress after a poor start

Was keener than ideal early on and received a hefty bump soon after the start, so did well to get in the mix. Given little chance in the betting, despite having won her only previous start at Brighton, she's a good prospect for her connections and there's every chance she'll improve for a step up in trip.

Lady Labelle
Third, York, May 13
Took another step forward and deserves extra credit having come from the back. Based on the dam's side of her pedigree, she'll be suited by even further.

Promising
Freedom Day
Sixth, Newbury, May 13
Started well amidst greenness, keeping on nicely having taken a while to get organised. He's bred more for speed than stamina, unlikely to get much further than a mile.
Watch Freedom Day make a good debut despite being very green
Seductive Power
Fifth, Newbury, May 13
From the family of a 1,000 Guineas winner and cost 175,000gns as a yearling, he was doing some good work at the finish under an educational ride, so he should leave this form behind in due course.

Believing
Second, Newmarket, May 14
Surprisingly big in the market considering she was representing the previous year's winning connections, the two-year-old kept on pleasingly after encountering her share of traffic problems over 1f out. She wouldn't have beaten the winner with a clear run, but she'd certainly have finished closer and will take a fair bit of beating next time with this experience behind her.
