Frost channels Frankie with flying dismount at Exeter

Bryony Frost outdid Frankie Dettori with a flying dismount after winning the Dartmoor Clydesdales race at Exeter on Sunday.

It is unlikely Dettori has ever done his trademark leap from the bulky breed of horse that grow up to 18 hands high and weigh 1,000kg.

But Frost can add the feat to her CV after winning on Siryl in the charity race over two furlongs in aid of Devon Air Ambulance.

“When I was coming down I was thinking, ‘Where’s the floor?’ said Frost. “Thankfully I had a safe landing.”

Frost, winner of the Foxhunter Chase on Pacha Du Polder at the Cheltenham Festival last season, pipped Aidan Coleman on Midge to victory in the six-runner affair and added: “That was great. He set off with gusto and kept going.

“It’s brilliant to be raising money for the Air Ambulance who our family have particular reason to be grateful for as my older brother would probably not be here but for them coming to his rescue up on Dartmoor."

The six Clydesdales are all owned by Tim Ancrum and Aileen Ware, who were bringing them to Exeter for the fifth time.
