'It's a waiting game' - camps of leading British Arc fancies praying for rain in Paris as the Arc looms large

Connections of Kalpana and Estrange, the two shortest-priced entries trained in Britain for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, are praying for rain in Paris before next Sunday's Longchamp showpiece.
Ante-post favourite for the Arc before going down to Giavellotto in the September Stakes, Kalpana is a general 14-1 chance to give her owner-breeders Juddmonte back-to-back wins in the Arc after Bluestocking's tour de force 12 months ago.
The four-year-old, also runner-up in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes this season, is ideally suited by ease in the ground and trainer Andrew Balding is pinning his hopes on the weather turning on the eve of the race after Kalpana came through her latest workout with flying colours.
