The team behind Field Of Gold are hopeful he will return to his scintillating best at Ascot this weekend, with the decision on whether it is the three-year-old star's final start to be made in light of how he performs in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

An enforced mid-season break following a disappointing run in the Sussex Stakes had raised the question of whether the son of Kingman could take in the Breeders' Cup after Champions Day, but Juddmonte racing manager Barry Mahon said getting him back for Saturday's Qipco-sponsored £1.1 million race was as far as plans had got at this stage.

The brilliant Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace winner was found to be lame after he finished a disappointing fourth behind his own pacemaker Qirat at Glorious Goodwood, and Juddmonte's sole focus has been on getting him back to the track.
