The top amateur rider reflects on a memorable two days at the Dublin Racing Festival

The starter’s flag isn’t even up but we’re cantering past him. Two miles and six furlongs, a three-furlong straight line with three hurdles to get a position and only 12 runners.
I really fancy Supersundae. He jumps so well, though, that you’re always taking him back over this trip. We get a nice position, albeit running a little keenly. Turning out the back I can see Paul Townend on the rail behind the three leaders and I try to move up to keep that door locked. The door is moving faster than I can, though. I drop back, Paul pulls out and breezes home.
Final Demand has the looks, he has the sire, he has the pedigree and now he has the performance. He is straightforward too, which is golden. Supersundae possibly came back too soon after a hard seasonal debut. He will have his day, perhaps over shorter.
