'The sky's the limit for him over marathon trips - he's a stayer on the up'

Out with the old and in with the new was the theme in last season’s staying division. The great Stradivarius relinquished his Gold Cup crown to Subjectivist, but was still able to rack up a couple of Group 2 wins before Trueshan was finally unleashed to become number one.
It should have happened earlier in the season as, for the majority of 2021, Stradivarius and Trueshan had avoided each other, with Stradivarius missing the Goodwood Cup on account of the soft ground, despite his best ever performance coming on soft going.
Then it was Trueshan’s turn to duck the issue. Not once, but twice as he missed both the Lonsdale and Doncaster Cups because of fast ground. Eventually though, and in fairness to his connections, Trueshan turned up for two big ones in the autumn and won both.
