Debbie McGee still smarting at Dettori after duff tip trails in last at Ascot

He is racing’s greatest showman and at times has proved himself to be a magician, but there is one thing Frankie Dettori may wish he had not done – make Debbie McGee’s money disappear.

McGee, widow and former assistant of magic man Paul Daniels, revealed on a recent episode of her BBC Berkshire radio programme that Dettori had given her the “worst racing tip” at Ascot.

If McGee had been hoping the flamboyant rider would be able to pull something out of his hat she was sadly disappointed, and said: “I was invited to go in a box and Frankie Dettori was a friend of the person hosting it. Frankie came in and gave me the worst racing tip I’ve ever had in my life. I think the horse came last.”
