Prize-money boosted by £40,000 on Group 2 York Stakes card as races are added to World Pool schedule

Prize-money at York for its meeting on Saturday week has been boosted with the Sky Bet York Stakes and Sky Bet Dash Handicap added to the World Pool schedule for the first time.
The Group 2 York Stakes purse is up £15,000 to £150,000, while the Dash prize-money has been raised £25,000 to reach the £100,000 mark.
The two races on the Knavesmire will feature alongside eight World Pool races on the same day at Ascot, headlined by the Group 1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
World Pool blends various pool bets from across the world, with all bets following the Hong Kong Jockey Club's place terms.
York chief executive William Derby said: “York is honoured that the Hong Kong Jockey Club has chosen to increase the number of races from the Knavesmire that are available to global bettors via World Pool.
“The boost in global betting profile means that we have invested further in the purses for two races on Saturday, July 26.
“Since the first runnings post-pandemic (2021), the Sky Bet Dash has now been doubled in value to £100,000; with the Sky Bet York Stakes increased by over 30 per cent in the same time span, to now be £150,000."
The Listed Hopeful Stakes is one of two races at Newmarket next month added to the World Pool rota, on the same day as York’s Nunthorpe Stakes.
Sam Nati, head of commingling at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said: “The injection of prize-money into the two races at York is a great outcome and aligns with the goals of World Pool, not only as a wagering brand, but as a key instrument to drive industry confidence and sustainability.
“As always, the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes shapes as a key race in what has already been a riveting summer of British racing.”
