Bob Long becomes oldest winner of mammoth Mongol Derby at 70

A 70-year-old American has become the oldest winner of the world's longest horserace, the Mongol Derby.
Bob Long, from Wyoming, was the first to complete the 1,000km race on the eighth day of the unique challenge and also became the oldest person to finish in the race's ten-year history.
The previous oldest winner and finisher of the Mongol Derby was 52 and 64 respectively.
The course in Mongolia is modelled on the postal route and system developed by Genghis Khan in the 13th century. Riders change their semi-wild horses regularly and stay with local herders or camp under the stars.
