New England have known for weeks that they would have to deal without suspended quarterback Tom Brady for the first four games of the season, but the situation has become more problematic this evening.

Stand-in Jimmy Garoppolo answered plenty of sceptics when he directed the Patriots to a victory at Arizona in the opening week, but he suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 24-17 success over Miami.
