US Open report

Bookmakers have been toasting the US Open victory of 125-1 outsider JJ Spaun, who upstaged the bigger names to claim a first Major title at Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Spaun produced an astonishing comeback on the back nine in the final round, improving his score while those around him on the leaderboard imploded, eventually winning by two shots with a one-under-par 72-hole total.

Spaun was five over par for his final round through six holes – and was still five over par through 11 holes – but birdies at the 12th, 14th, 17th and 18th meant an incredible triumph for the 34-year-old. His only previous PGA Tour success was the 2022 Texas Open.
