The early bird got the worm as Tristan Davidson, who was up at 3.30am delivering milk, saddled his first double as a trainer following the victories of Rubenesque and Justatenner in the opening two races.

Davidson, 39, is better known for his exploits as a jockey in hunter chases and point-to-points but he advertised his training skills by registering the 169-1 double with two horses making their debuts for the Carlisle yard.

Rubenesque brought up the first leg when staying on stoutly in the 2m6f maiden hurdle and Justatenner followed suit with a comfortable success in the following handicap hurdle over the same distance.
