Trevor Whelan's superb streak continues with feature success on Lokma

Trevor Whelan’s superb run of form continued when he made it four winners from his last five rides on Lokma in the feature 5f fillies’ novice.
The Ollie Sangster-trained three-year-old was Whelan’s sole mount of the day, and he added to Tuesday’s Nottingham double and Wednesday’s winner at Brighton when helping Lokma get off the mark at the third attempt.
“She ran well enough the last day at Kempton and I was second on her first run, she completely missed it so she didn’t really have a race,” Whelan told Sky Sports Racing. “We came back a furlong and she was a lot sharper, she saw it out pretty well.”
Whelan, who is also a dual Grade 2-winning rider over jumps courtesy of Lil Rockerfeller, has partnered more than half of his 13 winners this term for Sangster.
On their thriving relationship, the 36-year-old said: “Ollie’s horses are running really well and he’s been good to put me up.”
Kid rocks
A 3lb rise was not enough to prevent Down To The Kid following up last month’s success at this track and trip in the mile handicap.
The Richard Kingscote-ridden winner struck three times at this venue for Ivan Furtado, and he matched that feat for trainer Michael Herrington when completing a course-and-distance hat-trick.
O'Keeffe ends drought
Jedd O'Keeffe trained his first Flat winner since November when Saisons D'Or landed the 7f handicap under Billy Garritty.
Doughty delivers
Champion all-weather apprentice Jack Doughty rode his first winner for trainer Ed Walker on King's Scholar in the 1m4f handicap.
