Nicky Richards strikes gold in feature to maintain productive spell

Fresh from his giant-killing exploits in Ireland over Christmas, Nicky Richards was given another reason to smile as My Old Gold won the feature race under Brian Hughes.

On a bitterly cold day, Richards was surely still basking in the warm glow of Simply Ned's shock victory over Footpad, after the 12-year-old defended his crown in the Paddy Power-sponsored Grade 1 chase at Leopardstown.

Yet the in-form trainer was celebrating again after My Old Gold held off the late challenge of Lough Salt in the limited handicap chase for novices.
