Jim Goldie enjoyed a fine afternoon with a 69-1 treble, two of which were delivered by regular rider Paul Mulrennan.

The trainer got off to a flying start in the 5f handicap, saddling the first two home when Classy Al swooped late to edge out Eternal Sunshine by a short head. Talented 7lb claimer Lauren Young gave the winner a well-judged ride, picking off her rivals in the final furlong.

Victory in the mile handicap followed courtesy of Penelope’s Sister, who is owned by the Ayr Racecourse Club.

Mulrennan told Racing TV: "It's probably the place to be running today from the front. We were dropping Penelope's Sister back in trip and we know she gets this one well. Jim's horses are all healthy and in great form."

The treble was rapidly completed in the 7f handicap by Spun To Gold under Mulrennan. The hood was kept on the four-year-old, who thrived when sent to the front and dominated the race from the off.

The jockey added: "The hood's definitely helped him. Like any of these horses you get from other yards it can take a little while to figure them out, but the front-running tactics seemed to help him and he enjoyed it out there."

Novamay strikes again

Novamay backed up her nine-length success last time with another dominant display in the 6f handicap.

Rhys Elliott’s 5lb claim proved valuable for the Michael Dods-trained three-year-old as she powered clear a furlong out to win by six and a half lengths.
