Ann and Ian Hamilton, who train six horses for a hobby at their farm in Northumberland, shocked some of the biggest stables around when Nuts Well carried top weight to victory in the Grade 2 Monet's Garden Old Roan Chase.

An error at the last appeared to halt Nuts Well's strong finish, but the nine-year-old recovered to cause an 18-1 surprise under Danny McMenamin, who punched the air in delight at the line.

For permit-holder Ann Hamilton, 68, and her 73-year-old husband-owner Ian, it was the pinnacle of a training career stretching back decades.
