Iron man Hughes completes four-timer after walking away from crashing fall

It was a remarkable afternoon for Brian Hughes. He rode four winners from five rides and in between took a humdinger of a fall from Petite Ganache – who may have given him a fifth winner had he not come down at the final flight when in the lead.

Not only did Petite Ganache fall heavily and lie on top of him, he also brought down his nearest pursuer, Callum Bewley on Highland Peak, in what looked a horrific incident.

Although Bewley and the two horses were soon on their feet Hughes lay on the ground for a couple of minutes before gradually getting up, walking away gingerly.
