Don’t Rightly Know made it back-to-back wins in Listed company when landing the feature 3m mares’ chase under Harry Cobden.

The Polly Gundry-trained ten-year-old followed up last month’s Newbury victory to make it three from three over fences, having made a successful chasing debut at this track and trip in December.

“She absolutely loves the job and we haven’t found the bottom of her over fences,” said Gundry. “She made a balls-up of the second-last and I think she was as angry as anyone. She pulled herself together and pulled it out of the bag.”

The veteran is Gundry’s only winner from her string this season and the Devon trainer added: “I think we’ve got a few miles left.

“We’re certainly thinking of keeping her in mares’ races and as close to three miles as we can. We might think about Ireland if there’s something there because I’m not sure there is much in England.

“The owner isn’t very keen on a handicap and we were never thinking of going to Cheltenham.”

Victory in the £32,500 event was the middle leg of a 197-1 treble for Cobden, who steered the Paul Nicholls-trained Largy Poet to a winning chasing debut before striking on Joe Tizzard’s 25-1 shot Claim The Throne in the bumper.

Decco delivers

Harry Kimber was second on Foxboro for Robert Walford in last year’s Devon National but the same jockey-trainer combination went one better in the 3m6½f handicap chase with Art Decco, who added a second regional National to his CV when replicating last season’s Ffos Las win in the West Wales equivalent.
