Paul Nicholls pinpoints a 33-1 ante-post fancy after once again displaying his mastery
This time the winnings were a lot less than £39,000 but the 14-time champion trainer very much hit the jackpot

For Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson and Dan Skelton, the three titans among Britain's jumps trainers, Newbury yielded plenty on the track's flagship day. For Henderson, so did Newcastle.
Nothing could ever prise him from his local course on Coral Gold Cup day. The Lambourn legend seems to win the Fighting Fifth Hurdle more often than not, yet he consistently does it from afar. He stayed south when Constitution Hill dazzled two years ago and would have done exactly the same had the sport's most talked about horse made it back to the north-east. That being the case, he was always going to watch Sir Gino's return from Newbury.
On this occasion, he did it from behind the winner's circle podium on which a couple of minutes earlier he had been congratulated having emulated Skelton by completing a double on the card. With binoculars fixed on the big screen, he moved barely a muscle. Pleasingly, Nico de Boinville moved only a few more on his guvnor's ninth Fighting Fifth winner.
