Hollie Doyle and Marco Botti follow up big weekend with feature success for stable debutant Thyer

Hollie Doyle and Marco Botti backed up their Group-race successes on Sunday when combining in the feature mile novice stakes with Thyer.
Doyle, who won the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on Bradsell shortly after Botti’s Group 3 victory with Great Generation at Doncaster, helped the son of Gleneagles score by a nose. The three-year-old had been absent since winning at Thirsk for Andrew Balding over a year ago, but gave weight all round on his first start since being gelded and bought for 7,000gns in July.
“Hollie gave him a brilliant ride,” said Botti. “He travelled well through the race and he had to be very tough to hold on. He was cheap at the sales, I don’t know why because actually he’s a nice horse.
“He doesn’t mind a little bit of cut in the ground, so going forward that won’t be an issue. He’ll probably get a little bit higher rating for winning with the penalty, so we’ll wait until next week before we make any plan, but I suppose he’ll go in handicaps.”
Doyle was second on her remaining three mounts, including when Marchetti was beaten a head by Hurricane Power in the second division of the mile handicap.
Baz banned
Baz Lewis received a seven-day ban for failing to ride out to the finish in the opening 6f apprentice handicap.
The 25-year-old partnered the Patrick Chamings-trained Little Miss Magic and appeared to stop riding at the half-furlong pole in the contest, which was won by the Andrea Pinna-ridden Harry’s Halo.
