James Tate trained his first winner for Jaber Abdullah when Hello Zaman sprinted clear to win the 6f novice stakes under Clifford Lee.

The owner, best known for twice Arc runner-up Youmzain, had horses at the Newmarket yard for the first time last season but the duo had eight placed finishers without a victory.

The breakthrough came in stylish fashion from the Hello Youmzain three-year-old, who stepped forward from his debut to win by three lengths.

Tate said: "I've always liked him a lot. He had a few little babyish niggles as a two-year-old, which is why he didn't appear until December and he was very green on debut. Thankfully, he showed a bit more like what we think of him there.

"He was still a bit green, so I'd hope he can step forward again and be quite smart in time. I think he'll be a sprinter being by Hello Youmzain, his last furlong was his best, so I think six furlongs will be his trip.

"We had horses for Mr Abdullah for the first time last year. We had lots of places and sold a few well as a result but, fingers crossed, 2025 will be a good year for us."

Triple double

Tony Carroll enjoyed two winners with the Molly Gunn-ridden Time Patrol in the 6f apprentice handicap and Tortured Soul, under Jack Doughty, in the 1m4f handicap.

David Probert won on Sweet Couture and High Court Judge in the 6f novice stakes and 1m4f classified stakes respectively. Joey Haynes's double came courtesy of Frankies Dream in the 5f handicap and the well-backed Bankrupt in the 5f classified stakes.
