Ground concerns cause racing to be delayed as stewards inspect

The stewards were called into action after the opening 1m71/2f handicap hurdle when two jockeys - Will Kennedy and James Davies - raised safety concerns regarding the road crossing situated just passed the stands.

An inquiry was called and the stewards inspected the road crossing alongside clerk of the course Robert Bellamy, trainer Warren Greatrex as well as Kennedy and Davies but after remedial work on the crossing racing resumed, albeit with a 15 minute delay.

Stipendiary steward Chris Rutter explained: “After the first race Will Kennedy and James Davies had concerns about the road crossing stating they considered the filling on the crossing was a bit deep and the lip back onto the course was slightly raised.
