Easy victory has Frost looking to the future with Masked Identity

In scenes more commonly associated with Newmarket than Southwell, two four-year-olds who at one point had each cost purchasers 210,000gns, squared off in the mile novice stakes.

Yet the similarities ended there, as the Kevin Frost-trained Masked Identity proved much the best of the four-runner field with his precociously priced market rival Fox Mafia last of the quartet.

The 5-6 favourite travelled like the best horse in the race throughout, but had to be kept up to his work by Shane Kelly inside the final two furlongs of the testing straight to land an assured victory, his second in three starts for Frost.
