Marco Botti's excellent run of form continued as Rambaldi finished strongly under Andrea Atzeni in the 1m½f classified stakes to deny runner-up Kings Royal Hussar by a nose.

The victory was Botti's fourth from his last five runners, and would be supplemented ten minutes later when Willkommen triumphed at Wolverhampton to make it five from six for the trainer.

Botti, who saddled four Group-level winners in 2018, was buoyant following the success, and said: "I'm delighted. It was very close on the line but he showed a good turn of foot from the back. He's still lightly raced and is an honest horse who is certainly improving."
