A brave boy wins on Kemboy on a day of mixed emotions for uncle Willie

So much for missing the boat.

There we were thinking a cancelled ferry to Fishguard was going to deprive Kemboy of bagging a big one. Little did we know a month later he would be winning one of the most competitive Grade 1 staying chases we have seen in Ireland for years.

Kemboy had top weight and was near the top of the market for the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury earlier this month but strong winds stalled his intended voyage from Rosslare and gave Willie Mullins time to have a rethink. Maybe Newbury was the wrong place to go. Maybe the rescheduled sailing would be a mistake.
