Bank holiday racegoers who take advantage of free entry at Gowran Park will see a high-quality card, headlined by the €200,000 Gowran Classic.

Heavens Gate is top on ratings in the 1m1½f contest due to her efforts as a two-year-old for Aidan O'Brien. However, her runs this year have left something to be desired. She was last on her reappearance at Newbury and out of her depth next time in the French 1,000 Guineas at Longchamp.

The hope will be that this drop in class and step up in trip can get her back to winning ways.

The pick of Joseph O’Brien's four runners appears to be And So To Bed, who finished off last season with a standout half-length second to leading Oaks contender Whirl at the Curragh in October on soft ground.

She didn’t reappear in the same form back there in a Group 3 last month when she finished last of 11. However, she is entitled to come on from that run and could be a big player if the ground comes up soft.

Deressa has looked much improved as a three-year-old and bids to complete a hat-trick at this track in the space of two months. Her course-and-distance form makes her the most appealing of the bunch.

What they say

Joseph O’Brien, trainer of Viking Invasion, Dignam, Green Triangle and And So To Bed
And So To Bed needs to bounce back after an underwhelming reappearance but we think she's come on for the run and any rain that falls will help. Viking Invasion ran very well last time and we think he'll enjoy the step up in distance. Green Triangle has had a few good runs this year and we're hoping he can collect a share of the prize money. Dignam should enjoy this course and distance and has trained well since his most recent start. He has an each-way chance.

Paddy Twomey, trainer of Inventress
We've trained her for the race and we're looking forward to it. She's on a competitive weight at the bottom but we'd like a shower of rain.
