Sir Mark Prescott attempts to make another successful raid at the Curragh - but is One Look the big danger?

Tasmania shaped excellently on her first effort of the season when runner-up to Diamond Rain in Group 3 company at Newcastle last month on her second start for Sir Mark Prescott and holds strong claims of defeating the domestic brigade in the Meadow Court Stakes.

Formerly trained in France by Francis Graffard, the Australia mare was a three-time winner there, including in Listed company at Compiegne in October 2023. She showed encouragement on her stable debut for Prescott in last year's Pretty Polly when sixth behind subsequent Arc winner Bluestocking but the five-year-old wasn't seen for another 12 months until her Newcastle effort three weeks ago.

She was travelling best of the six-runner field approaching the furlong pole but conceded first run when she had to switch to the outside and could only run on to get within a length and three-quarters of Diamond Rain. It was a very encouraging effort, however, and she should come on plenty for it.

One Look didn't show her best in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes last time but the quick ground mightn't have been to her liking and her two runs at this track prior to that were high class.

After landing the Group 3 Park Express Stakes on her return, with the reopposing Naomi Lapaglia in behind, she put in another excellent run in the Lanwades Stud Stakes, finding only the very smart Porta Fortuna too good when losing out by half a length.

That was a career best, while she shaped as if the step up to a mile and a quarter would suit. She has to go close and rates the value at 7-2 or bigger.

Naomi Lapaglia will definitely enjoy the step up in distance as her best form came over this trip last year when placed in Listed events at Yarmouth and Saint-Cloud but she might find it hard to reverse form with One Look.

Beechwood was extremely impressive when winning the Oyster Stakes in September but returns from a layoff, while Uluru is the pick of Joseph O'Brien's three runners after she landed Listed honours at Limerick last time.

She showed a sharp turn of foot to quicken off a sedate pace on that occasion so the drop in trip should prove little hindrance.

Any further rain would benefit Higher Leaves, who has some excellent form on ground with an ease in France, most notably when bolting up by six and a half lengths in a Group 3 in November.

Azada has always promised plenty and is another one who could excel if the rain comes. She ran a good race when third to Green Impact last time and her two wins have come on heavy and yielding ground.

What They Say

Paddy Twomey, trainer of One Look and Beechwood
One Look has been in good form this year and her run style would suggest the step up to a mile and a quarter might not inconvenience her. Beechwood joined us last year and was a very impressive winner of the Oyster Stakes on her last run. We've been waiting for a small bit of ease in the ground for her to start.

Luke Morris, jockey of Tasmania
She's taken a step forward from her run at Newcastle. It was her first run for nearly a year, so she was bound to come on for it. If they get a bit of rain then it should play to her strengths and she’s a filly we’ve always held in high regard.
