Shadwell's 1.6 million guineas buy in action at Doncaster and Tim Easterby bids for another Silver Sprint success at Ripon
Saturday's punting pointers from across the cards

Doncaster: expensive purchase features for Burrows
Lambourn trainer Owen Burrows has enjoyed a positive start to the season and has an eyecatching runner in the 7f fillies' maiden (5.50).
Alfareqa was purchased for 1.6 million guineas as a yearling by Shadwell at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale in 2023. She finished ninth of 14 on her debut at Kempton in December and returns following a 143-day break.
Burrows said: "Hopefully she'll show a bit more this time. She was just a bit starry eyed with the floodlights at Kempton last year and Jim [Crowley] said the kick-back was quite severe that night.
"This seven-furlong trip on a nice, galloping track will suit her down to the ground and she's been pleasing me in her work."
Haydock: serial winner chases more success
Ed Bethell has a good record in open handicaps at the track in the past four seasons and his sole representative on the card is one to follow.
Yorkshire, who lines up in the 7f handicap (2.40), has been a consistent performer for the yard, winning six of his 16 starts and finishing second on three other occasions.
The five-year-old son of Harry Angel finished third behind three-time Group 1 winner Charyn on his debut at the track in August 2022 and was second over course and distance last September.
He comes into this race on the back of an all-weather success at Kempton and Bethell said: "He's done very well on the all-weather and hopefully he can transfer it back to turf. He's got a dreadful draw [stall 11] so it's going to be tough, but he seems in good nick at home."
Leicester: can Boughey make use of record?
George Boughey has been operating at a 45 per cent strike-rate (5-11) in three-year-old handicaps at this track in the past four seasons.
He will have an opportunity to improve that record with Tolerance, who lines up in the 7f handicap (3.45).
Owned by Highclere Racing, the son of Starspangledbanner has yet to win in six starts but he recorded his highest Racing Post Rating on his penultimate outing at Newcastle and a similar effort could see him go close under Billy Loughnane.
The 13-runner contest is a competitive one, however, with the James Fanshawe-trained Ornately and Knights Gold, who is trained by Richard Newland and Jamie Insole, arriving on the back of a win.
Leicester stat: 30 per cent
James Fanshawe's strike-rate (3-10) in the past fortnight. His sole runner on the card is Ornately in the 7f handicap (3.45).
Ripon: Easterby aiming for more gold in Silver Sprint
Tim Easterby bids for a third victory in four runnings of the Ripon Silver Sprint Trophy (6.05) with the potentially well-drawn Manila Scouse.
The North Yorkshire trainer won the £30,000 5f handicap in 2022 and 2023 and his runner this year should strip fitter for a recent comeback at Pontefract.
Although Manila Scouse has failed to beat a single rival home on his last three starts, a return to form is not beyond the realms of possibility given his trainer's eyecatching record in the race.
The six-year-old, who is only 2lb higher than his last winning mark in August, has been drawn to make a beeline for the stands' rail from stall six, while jockey Amie Waugh takes off a useful 3lb.
Wolverhampton: trainer eyes more course joy
Trainer Mark Loughnane has yielded a £34.63 profit from a £1 level stake at this venue this year and saddles one runner in Zu Run.
The five-year-old contests the 7f confined apprentice handicap (5.45) and bids for a third win. The Zoustar gelding, whose two previous victories have come on the all-weather, including over course and distance in October, has run some decent races this term.
Warren Fentiman's mount came close to scoring again at the track in January and he wasn't beaten far when third at Chelmsford on his most recent start this month.
The Patrick Morris-trained Eden Storm is the other course-and-distance winner in the field and is ridden by apprentice Cian Horgan.
Wolverhampton stat: 71 per cent
Tom Clover's strike-rate (5-7) in three-year-old-plus maidens at this track. He saddles Cuban Lady in the 6f contest (6.45).
