Popular veteran bids to snap 14-race losing run while Wathnan prepare to unleash another exciting juvenile
Punting pointers for some of Wednesday's meetings . . .

Beverley: Orbaan out to end losing streak
Orbaan has taken connections to some of the biggest stages, but he bids to snap a losing streak when he contests the 7½f handicap (2.40).
The David O'Meara-trained ten-year-old has run at the likes of the Derby meeting, Ebor festival and Glorious Goodwood, where his career highlight came when winning the Golden Mile in 2022.
He was most recently successful at Carlisle last June, since when he has been winless in 14 races, including at Thirsk 11 days ago.
He is back down to a career-low mark of 73, but he ran a good race off that rating when runner-up at Epsom last month.
Beverley: Julie Camacho 100 per cent
Cartmel: Even more track success?
Evenwood Sonofagun made a winning track debut on bank holiday Monday and makes a quick reappearance.
The Lizzie Quinlan-trained seven-year-old had wind surgery last month and looked revitalised for that when scoring by an impressive three and a half lengths under the trainer's husband Sean.
He is back out just two days later in the second division of the 2m6f handicap hurdle (7.10) in which he has to carry a 7lb penalty as he bids to follow up around the twists and turns of the Cumbria track.
"He ran a great race on Monday," said Lizzie Quinlan. "He seems to have come out of it well. He’s had a day in the field and if they don’t get too much more rain and he’s telling me he’s fit and happy in the morning he’ll run. It’s a stronger race but he has a light weight and is in good form."
Cartmel: Jonathan England 25 per cent
No jockey has a better track strike-rate (14-56) in the last five seasons. He rides Sang Pour Sang (5.40), Top Of The Bay (6.10) and Couldbeaweapon (8.10).
Hamilton: Wathnan's exciting debutant
Wathnan Racing's strong team of juveniles are starting to take shape and the operation unleashes another potentially smart sort in Storm Force in the 5f maiden (2.00).
The Qatari powerhouse had possible Royal Ascot hopefuls Underwriter and Postmodern win last week, and this Richard Fahey-trained son of Starspangledbanner could well have been bought with that meeting in mind too.
A €95,000 purchase as a yearling, his price tag rose to 230,000gns when acquired by Wathnan at the Craven Breeze-Up Sale last month, and he is a half-brother to three winners.
Wathnan's number-one jockey James Doyle has just his 13th ride at the track and will be hoping it is lucky for him as Storm Force is his only mount on the card.
Kempton: Mbappe out to score again
Kylian Mbappe has just enjoyed a historic season on the pitch and his equine namesake will be hoping to hit the back of the net when he lines up in the mile apprentice handicap (5.18).
Mbappe may not match the same lofty feats of the footballer – the European Golden Boot winner who broke the record for the most goals scored in a debut season at Real Madrid – but he has visited the winner's enclosure three times already.
The Mark Loughnane-trained four-year-old's most recent win came at Lingfield last July, but he needs to bounce back from finishing last at this track last month, when he lost a shoe.
He has top weight to shoulder, but Loughnane has secured the services of Jack Callan, who takes off 5lb.
Newton Abbot: Last another Littmoden first?
Nick Littmoden is still waiting for his first jumps winner since returning to training in Britain, but that could change with Last Note in the opening 2m1f mares' novice hurdle (2.18).
The dual-purpose trainer had a spell in France, where he saddled more than 50 winners and won the Grade 3 Prix du President de la Republique – the French Grand National – with Imperil in 2023. He returned to Britain last year and has since saddled two Flat winners.
However, not since November 2020 has he enjoyed a British jumps victory, and in pursuit of that he also runs La Trattaria in the 2m2½f novice handicap hurdle (2.48).
"We've had winners in Britain since I returned but not over jumps," said Littmoden. "I was disappointed with Last Note last time, but this race looks to have cut up a bit and the horse who beat her at Warwick went on to win by nearly 20 lengths at Cartmel on Monday. This is a drop in grade and she'd have to have a chance.
"La Trattaria pleased us at Fontwell even if she was a fortunate second, and it was a very good run for her debut in this country. She should appreciate the step up in trip and has got a chance too."
Wexford: classy Flat performer back over jumps
Sunchart bumped into none other than Los Angeles last time and the classy dual-purpose performer reverts to jumps when he contests the 2m1f rated hurdle (5.30).
The Andrew Slattery-trained eight-year-old is a dual Listed winner on the Flat and has contested a few Group 1s, while he has also faced off against Kyprios on a few occasions too.
He was last seen finishing last of six in the Mooresbridge Stakes this month behind last year's Irish Derby hero, who won the Tattersalls Gold Cup on Sunday.
Sunchart already has winning course form, having landed a maiden hurdle here last summer, and could open up more avenues should he land this more competitive event.
