'I'm confident she's a Group 1 filly in the making' - Maddy Playle marks your card for day three of the Dante meeting

Our expert answers the big questions for Friday's Knavesmire action

What's the big story?

Rebel's Romance is one of the leading equine globetrotters in the world and will take in a big race relatively close to home this time in the Boodles Yorkshire Cup (3.45).

A Group 1 winner in Germany, the US, Dubai and Hong Kong, he has yet to score at the highest level in Britain and has done most of his racing elsewhere. Perhaps Friday's contest will pave the way to that first top-level win here, while it will also represent his first try at a mile and six furlongs.

So effective over a mile and a half, the extra distance is a legitimate question mark for Godolphin's top older horse, and he is facing confirmed stayers like Sweet William and Continuous. On the other hand, he is 6lb superior to his best rival on official ratings.

Could the fillies' race contain a star?

The Sky Bet Fillies' Stakes (3.13) is a proper race and bound to have Royal Ascot implications as four of the runners – Glittering Surf, Gulya, Consecrated and Serving With Style – are entered in the Coronation Stakes.

It might be only a Listed contest but some Group 1 horses have come through it in the recent past, including subsequent Sun Chariot winner Fonteyn.

Gulya was unlucky at Ascot last time and her form has already been boosted at York this week as she finished a length and a quarter behind Wednesday's Musidora winner Whirl on her debut at Doncaster in September.

Glittering Surf could be the most interesting of the bunch. She made rapid headway from last to score impressively at Kempton and that performance can be upgraded considering they did not go a particularly strong gallop.

The 33-1 for the Coronation will be a thing of the past if she takes this race in her stride.

What's the other highlight?

Speaking of Royal Ascot, all of the fillies in the Marygate Fillies' Stakes (2.10) will be hoping to boost their claims for the meeting. Signora Cabello was the last to do the double, winning this race before going on to success in the Queen Mary in 2018.

It's been a tough start to the season for Amo Racing, but their Wolverhampton winner Love Olivia made a bright impression on her debut last month. Her greatest danger could be Harry's Girl, who beat some highly touted rivals at Newmarket.

Ollie Sangster tends to excel with his juveniles and Eternal Solace deserves taking seriously after winning at Brighton last month, while it is interesting David O'Meara has chosen a race this strong to start off Solana Rose.

What is the bet of the day?

Anything bigger than 3-1 for Glittering Surf (3.13) could be very tempting and I'm confident she's a Group 1 filly in the making.

Love Olivia looked speedy on her debut, but she makes little appeal in the Marygate (2.10) at 9-4 as the form of her debut win has worked out terribly. The second was beaten more than 11 lengths on her next start and the fourth couldn't make an impact at Southwell either.

Perhaps Eternal Solace can make her sweat here. She is from a speedy and precocious family and overcame greenness to score at Brighton. That form probably isn't worth too much either, but she did beat a 4-9 hotpot from Archie Watson's yard, she's a much bigger price than Love Olivia at 7-1 and her trainer is operating at a 25 per cent strike-rate.
